One Child &
One Community
at a Time ... for 91 Years

With over 14 active projects, hundreds of
hours of service donated per year, and
dozens of members, the Kiwanis Club of
Regina is proof that as a group, we can
achieve what individuals cannot do alone.

Membership Committee Proposals

  1. That we take on four more manageable hands on projects throughout the year (in addition to existing ones – even with existing organizations we are already working with i.e. Girl Guides, Early Learning Centre, Wascana Rehab Bowling). President Rob said the Rider’s Kids Sport program in the summer could be something we could look at. No pressure to pick new projects out at this juncture though.
  2. President Rob has obtained the buy in from President John of the Wascana Club to meet two Tuesdays of the month. Recommended that the first and third Tuesdays made the most sense. Our club would meet the first Tuesday, and the Wascana club the third Tuesday. To be implemented October 4th – start of the new Kiwanian year.
  3. The committee would recommend that we would use the August 30th meeting as our “Plant the Seed” meeting where President Rob would outline to our general membership our committee’s work and passionately outline the membership goals and objectives for our club. Also to announce the Sept 27th date as our kick off membership meeting drive (which would include inviting the builders clubs, and possibly meeting out at Kiwanis Park. That we aim for a 100% attendance (get every member out) for the kick off meeting.
  4. In terms of the membership drive/campaign, we would recommend that the goal would be for each member to land two new members before December 20, 2011 which would be our evaluation period. i.e. 4 months from Sept 27th. At that time (our Christmas meeting) we would recognize members for certain best efforts. i.e. most new members brought on; most invites to luncheons, and so forth. We would have our first monthly meeting (one where we host the program) of the new executive and Kiwanis year on October 4th.
  5. We would recommend that we obtain costs to beautify our existing brochure, with the view of updating the content and adding some color.

Big Money for Eliminate Project

At the last Board Meeting it was approved that the Regina Club would donate $1500.00 for the international The Eliminate Project: Kiwanis eliminating maternal/neonatal tetanus

News from the Division 4 Meeting

A divisional meeting took place on Saturday March 26 in Moose Jaw. The meeting confirmed Elaine Chrysler will remain as our governor for the 2011-2012 year ... congratulations, Elaine!

Governor Elec Lori Beneteau was in attendance and indicated that membership in our district is on the plus side. However, she implored the clubs to continue to work on membership in order to maintain this positive growth.

Another Successful Year for Daffodil Sales

Spring was in the air during the week of March 8 for the sale of daffodils at all major shopping malls in Regina. The numbers are in and we generated another healthy profit for our main fundraiser. Thank you to all Kiwanians for pitching in!

KiwanisRegina.org is the 2nd Best in Western Canada!

In our ongoing effort to engage the community, we used the Christmas break to liven up our web site and enter the WeCan (Western Canadian) District Website Award. With the assistance of Kiwanian Scott Carson from Storm Applied Technologies, we took the silver!

Mayor's State of the City Address

Feb 3, 2011 is the date for the annual Mayor’s State of the City Address luncheon. Tickets are $22.00 for Kiwanis members. Over 300 tickets have already been sold to the general public!
